CELEBRATION
Installation: Models of the ship Jubilee and its pipe from Malmö Museum, video essay (45’), 2016.
Celebration was shown as part of the exhibition The Society Machine at Malmö Art Museum, September 24, 2016–January 29, 2017. The work drew on the remainders of the construction of the two final ships produced by the Kockums shipyard in Malmö. The two luxury cruise liners Jubilee and Celebration completed in 1986, at the conclusion of the Swedish shipyard crisis. Part from a video essay, with a recorded lecture on the history of these ships, the piece consisted of a selection of fragments from a model of Jubilee’s engine room and chimney (from the Malmö Museum collections), as well as a model of the ship Jubilee (both objects from The Malmö Museum’s collections).
